A common mistake is to play too many hands. Do not fall into the trap of believing that you can win with every hand you get. When you are a beginner, it is better to try to play your cards well than to bluff often. You can try a scam here and there, but develop it only when you have increased your knowledge and practiced a lot. You must not forget to try to judge the strength of your opponent's hand. It's nice to sit with a good hand but you have to try to figure out if your opponent has an even better one. Sitting with a ladder can feel good, but if there are 4 cards of the same suit on the table and your opponent raises, you have to think about whether you think your hand is really the best.

This may seem obvious, but you would be surprised if you knew how many players violate the most basic poker principles. Sometimes move around different tables and observe different players' playing styles so you can fairly quickly assess whether they are aware of the situation. Often you can already see in the lobby of the casino, for example, how many hands are played, if it is a high number, there are probably players who play clearly more often than they should with their cards.

Your position in the current game round is a very important factor in how you play. The best position is when you are the last in the round as you already know how the others have acted. Having a good position makes it easier for you to make assessments that in turn can turn even a bad hand into a winning hand. For example, if you are in front of those who have laid out their blinds, it can sometimes be time to raise to twist their blinds.
